It’s almost that time!

Are you enjoying your summer? Have you had a chance to take advantage of the few sunny days we’ve been blessed with? Are you anxious to start singing again? We hope the answer to all of these is a resounding “Yes!”

Rehearsals will resume for our fall season on Thursday, September 7th at 7:00pm in the Wasilla High School chorus room. We’ll take a look at music for our Christmas concerts, have some social time with snacks provided by the board, and you’ll get to meet the much-anticipated chorus baby!

In the meantime, if you’d like another way to make sure you’re staying informed of chorus news, you can click here to join a Remind group that will allow Anna to send messages to you directly through text or email. Messages about schedule changes, special events, inclement weather, and the like can be sent to the whole group at once using this service, so head over and sign up.

Enjoy these next four weeks! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Hello singers! Your board members would like to remind you that our next meeting, at which new board members and officers will be elected, is open to all chorus members and your attendance is encouraged. The meeting will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 5:45pm at Vagabond Blues in Palmer. We hope to see you there!

And for fun, here are the faithful folks who were able to sing at the Palmer Garden & Art Faire last Saturday. A big thank you goes out to those who participated!

This weekend is Colony Days in Palmer, and the chorus is holding a yard sale and walking in the parade. Yard sale set-up will begin at 9:00am on Saturday at 523 S Alaska Street, across from Turkey Red. You can bring any donations for the sale that haven’t already been dropped off then. If you are joining us for the parade, please meet up at the yard sale location at 10:00 and we will head to the parade staging area from there.

Don’t forget to wear your logowear and be prepared to sing! We look forward to seeing you and promoting the chorus this weekend!

Rehearsals may be over for the summer, but that doesn’t mean you can forget about your MCC friends! Just for fun, we’re doing a logowear contest. Post a picture on our Facebook page of yourself wearing your hat or shirt or carrying your bag while you’re out enjoying your summer. Every photo will get you an entry into a drawing for a prize!

Rehearsal Reminder

Hello folks! Just a reminder that we have one more meeting before we break for the summer. We’ll watch/listen to recordings from Saturday’s concert, share some potluck snacks, and have a generally fun evening together.

Also, it is very important that you return your music if you have not done so already! Several folders have not turned in music at all, and there are also copies of the Star Spangled Banner floating around that need to be returned. Please check your folders for this piece even if you turned in your concert music on Saturday.

Thank you for all your hard work this semester! We look forward to seeing you in September!

MEA Annual Meeting

Comments Off on MEA Annual Meeting

This Tuesday, April 25th, is our appearance at the MEA Annual Meeting at Raven Hall on the Fairgrounds in Palmer. Our soundcheck must be completed by 5:15, so if you are able to show up before then please do; otherwise call is no later than 5:45. Parking should be accessible from the Glenn Highway entrance (signs generally direct traffic past the Red Gate to the Orange Lot behind Raven Hall.) We will sing our mini-program at approximately 6:15, and then sing the national anthem at 6:30 to kick off the meeting. After we sing you are free to go, or stay for the meeting and get $10 off your next electric bill!

Dress for the event is your MCC T-Shirt (handed out at last Thursday’s rehearsal) and non-faded black pants. Extra shirts will be available on Tuesday, but if you’re not sure if there will be one waiting for you, please try to wear a light blue shirt to blend in.

Remember, we only have two more rehearsals before our first concert, so keep working with those study tracks! See you all on Tuesday!

Hosasnna Example & Rehearsal Reminder

Hi singers! Don’t forget that due to Spring Break, tomorrow’s rehearsal will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (right next to Wasilla High School) at 7pm.

Here’s an example of our song “Hosanna, Me Build a House, O” for your listening pleasure. This is not the exact arrangement we are singing, but it will give you a good idea of the sound we are going for. More study tracks have been posted as well for you to practice with.

New Study Tracks

Comments Off on New Study Tracks

Hello Singers! Study tracks for the first few of our new songs for our May concert have been posted. Get to them directly here.

Note that the Rhythm of Life tracks were made from the SAB score, which we discovered on Thursday is not the score you are singing from! Many of the Tenor and Bass tracks will need to be updated to reflect this, as well as the recordings of all voices together. I will send out another update as soon as this is done.

Happy practicing!
